Site Conditions
The site is located within the Upper Rock Creek watershed, which flows into the Potomac and eventually into the Chesapeake Bay. The flow of water is crucial towards both the site and where it eventually drains into.
The site is also hilly, where some parts are even steep for users to walk. This is great for active students but may become difficult for adult groups and people with disabilities. The Outdoor Education Center has a capacity of 40 students with 1-2 adults that rotate throughout the school year.
Expanding the Outdoor Education Center
Rockville, MD

Our client wanted us to expand on the existing Outdoor Education program of the Lathrop E. Smith Environmental Education Center in Rockville, Maryland. The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) requires all 6th grade students to take an Outdoor Education program, where students stay three days and two nights at a dormitory within the outdoor education facility.
